“Days of Candy” is a personal zine that plays with nostalgia/longing, disillusionment and the tension between reality and memory.
A lot of the photographs in this zine are highly edited by distortion and blur which is analogous to how memories are often skewed and inaccurate when we look back on them.
The colour palette was also a prominent aspect to this zine. I consciously made the decision not to use minimal colour or sepia tones (which is usually attributed to nostalgia). I chose, instead, to over-saturate the pages with bright and bold colours – pink, blue and red – to resemble the vibrancy of our delusion and the romanticized beauty of particular moments.
